“I know learning Procore would help with getting hired — but where do I actually start?”
I’ve seen this question in multiple newcomer communities, and I had the same problem when I first arrived. The good news: both Procore and Fieldwire run free official training platforms with certificates you can put on your resume. Some GCs in Canada even use these certifications as a differentiator during hiring.
This guide walks through exactly how to get these certifications at home, before you’re hired.
Procore Free Certification: Procore Certification Program
Where to Study
Procore Learning Management System (LMS)
→ learn.procore.com
No cost. You don’t need an active Procore company account — just sign up with your email and you can start right away.
Which Courses to Take
Procore Certification is organized by role. If you’re targeting a construction job in Canada, start with these two:
| Course | Best For | Content | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Project Management Certification | PM, coordinator, supervisor roles | RFI, Submittals, Drawings, Meetings, Daily Log | ~8–12 hours |
| Project Engineer Certification | Field engineering, design-construction liaison | Drawings, Specifications, Change Orders | ~6–8 hours |
If you’re targeting a field trade or foreman role, you don’t need the full PM certification. Focus on the “Field Productivity” modules: Daily Log, Timesheets, and Observations — that’s enough to be functional on day one.
How to Get the Certificate
- Go to learn.procore.com → sign up free with your email
- Enroll in your chosen Certification path
- Complete all modules + pass the quizzes
- Download your PDF certificate
- Add to your resume: “Procore Certified — Project Management | Procore Technologies | [Year]”
I completed the Project Management Certification over two weekends. All content is in English, but it’s technical vocabulary — not conversational English. If you don’t know a term, pause and search it. That approach got me through without any trouble.
Fieldwire Free Learning: Fieldwire Academy
Where to Study
Fieldwire Academy
→ academy.fieldwire.com
Also free. No Fieldwire account required to enroll.
Recommended Courses
| Course | Best For | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Fieldwire for Field Workers | Trades, foremen | ~2–3 hours |
| Fieldwire for Project Managers | PMs, supervisors | ~4–5 hours |
Fieldwire’s courses are shorter and more straightforward than Procore’s. Finish your Procore certification first, then knock out Fieldwire in a day or two.
Fieldwire Academy issues a completion certificate. It carries less name recognition than Procore, but among candidates with no direct experience, “Fieldwire Academy Certified” on a resume is still a visible differentiator for field trade roles.
BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud — Free Starting Points
Autodesk runs Autodesk Learning, though some content is paid. For a free starting point:
→ construction.autodesk.com/resources/learning
Autodesk also offers a 30-day free trial of their software — worth using to get hands-on time. BIM 360 / ACC is most useful to learn if you’re targeting a BIM coordinator or VDC role. For general construction roles, Procore first is the better use of your time.
Recommended Study Timeline (2–3 Weeks)
| Week | Focus |
|---|---|
| Week 1 | Sign up for Procore LMS → start Project Management Certification. 1–2 hours/day; prioritize Drawings, RFI, Daily Log modules |
| Week 2 | Complete Procore PM Certification + download certificate. Start Fieldwire Academy “Field Workers” course (2–3 days) |
| Week 3 | Review both tools; simulate real site scenarios. Optionally start BIM 360 basics |
How to List These on Your Resume and LinkedIn
In your Certifications section:
Procore Certified — Project Management | Procore Technologies | 2025
Fieldwire Academy — Field Workers Certification | Hilti | 2025
On LinkedIn, add these under Licenses & Certifications. Canadian GC recruiters sometimes filter LinkedIn searches by “Procore” — having it listed increases your chances of showing up.
Why Is This All Free?
Procore and Fieldwire are subscription products paid for by GCs and owners — not by individual workers. The more workers who know the tools, the more valuable the platform is to the companies paying for it. Free training for end users is how they grow adoption. Use that to your advantage.
Summary
| Platform | Training Site | Cost | Time | Certificate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Procore | learn.procore.com | Free | 8–12 hrs | PDF issued |
| Fieldwire | academy.fieldwire.com | Free | 2–5 hrs | Completion cert |
| BIM 360 / ACC | construction.autodesk.com | Free / paid mix | 10+ hrs | Separate cert available |
The Canadian construction industry is digitalizing fast. PM tool proficiency won’t replace trade qualifications, but it sends a clear signal: this person can step on site and be useful from day one. It costs nothing and takes two to three weeks. Do it during your job search.
